Abstract #313547
Title: Multiple Outcomes with Latent Variable Approach
Author(s): Kathy Liu*+ and Yang Yang and Wei Liu

Keywords: multiplicity ; latent variable ; correlation structure
Abstract:

Traditional approaches dealing with multiplicity from multiple endpoints are in the form of p-value adjustments, which may result in reduced power. By taking into the account the correlation structure of the multiple endpoints, and their relationships with the latent variable(s), the proposed approach will reduce the dimensions of the multiple endpoints , so that no adjustment of p values or much less adjustments are required, therefore, the statistical power is gained.

We developed conditions under which this approach is applied. An example from ophthalmology clinical study is presented in which this approach is compared with the traditional approaches.
