Title: Progress on a New Approach to Sampling from the Posterior Distribution of Phylogenies
Author(s): Bret Larget*+
Companies: University of Wisconsin-Madison
Keywords: phylogenetics ; importance sampling ; MCMC ; Bayesian statistics
Abstract:

Since the origin of Bayesian phylogenetics in the 1990s, inference has depended on the design and implementation of novel Markov chain Monte Carlo sampling methods created specifically for phylogenetics. In this talk, we present progress toward a new independent sampling strategy and compare the computational efficiencies relative to current MCMC strategies.
