Abstract:
|
A statistician working in the aerospace industry faces some unique challenges and opportunities. Development of a new commercial aircraft requires understanding the needs of a small number of customers (airlines) and a large number of the customers' customers (passengers). The consequences of poor quality can be catastrophic and the statistician has an important role in quantifying risk and offering guidance to decision-makers.
This presentation will describe some of these unique challenges and outline opportunities for research and application development in statistical methods that would be relevant to the aerospace industry.
