Abstract:

Prostate cancer is a major public health problem, which over a lifetime will affect an estimated one in five American. The National Cancer Institute estimates 233,000 new cases and death from prostate cancer about 29,480 Americans in 2014. Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in men, exceeded only by lung cancer. While one man in six will get prostate cancer during lifetime, only one man in 32 will die of this disease. The death rate for prostate cancer is going down. More people are diagnosed earlier with this disease than used to be. Different studies conclude differently if weight, height, and alcohol consumption are prostate cancer risk factors. Using the National Health Interview Survey of 2007-2012, we are trying to find out if there is any relationship between prostate cancer and men's BMI and alcohol intake. This study considers men who are 40 years of age and older.
