Abstract:

The panelists are mentors and mentees from academia, government and industry. Mentoring relationships have provided valuable support to the panelists and have offered not only academic and career guidance, but also role models for leadership, interpersonal and problem-solving skills. They will provide first-hand accounts of their experiences. Their experiences provide useful information to the audience on ways that they can tap ASA resources to either to become a mentor or to find one. They will provide guidance that can improve mentoring relationships within our field. The panelists will share their past experiences and thoughts for the future to further enrich professional experiences through a mentor/mentee relationship. Panelists have valuable insight based on their involvement in mentoring activities at their workplace, in their chapter or in their section. The last part of the session will allow some time for the audience to provide their input on the mentoring program and interact with panelist to learn more about the ASA mentoring initiatives.
