Abstract:

The world has changed since 2000, so the ASA is revising its Guidelines for the Undergraduate Curriculum. "Big Data," "data science," and computational statistics are playing a bigger role. Employment prospects for graduating students are changing, too, as more jobs are labeled "analyst," rather than "statistician." I'll share thoughts from the ASA task force about the role of data science in our curriculum and curriculum changes to generate an undergraduate degree in line with expectations of employers and graduate programs. We're not done; I'd love to hear your thoughts.
