Abstract:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) launched a new project to overhaul the agency's National Automotive Sampling System (NASS). This presentation is an overview of this data modernization project. We shall explain the congressional driver of this project, the existing data collecting systems that are impacted by this project, the major components of this project, and the sample design challenges we faced during this redesign.
