Abstract:
|
Applied statisticians often serve in various capacities within an academic appointment and follow different paths to success. In this panel, statisticians from different academic career tracks (e.g., research, tenure, clinical educator, staff, etc.) will present position responsibilities, funding sources, teaching loads, administrative support, authorship policies, etc. and how these lead to promotion and advancement comparatively within their track. This is especially relevant because the role of the collaborative statistician in an academic setting is changing with new technologies, education of individuals in other fields, and perceptions of the value of applied statisticians within the appointed department, college, and university.
