Abstract:
|
Engaging students in an introductory statistics course is no small task. Integrating research with statistical practice is an important lesson, but one that's hard to fully grasp unless the research is one's own. Statistical Geographic is a semester-long project designed to bring together applied statistical analysis and research methods for an introductory statistics course in a fun and lively way, using The Island as their virtual population. This talk will share some student experiences with the project, and how it can be adapted for students with more advanced statistical backgrounds.
