Abstract:
|
We propose a semiparametric model for simultaneously assessing covariates effects on absolute risks of the event of interest and its competing risk based on the Fine-Gray proportional subdistribution hazards model. In current practice, when both outcomes are of interest, two separate Fine-Gray models are applied by alternating the event of interest and the competing risk. Neither direct comparison nor formal testing for any differential effects of common covariates on the two competing outcomes can be realized through separate modeling. The model we propose fills in this gap. Kidney Transplant Data from United Network for Organ Sharing illustrate the potential utility of the proposed model.
