Abstract:

In this work, we present the statistical design of one-sided CUSUM control charts that are suitable for the monitoring of zero-inflated binomial (ZIB) processes. The proposed design is based on the determination of the optimal pair of chart's design parameters for a given shift in the parameters of the ZIB distribution. The proposed schemes are suitable for the detection of increases (or decreases) in the proportion p of non-conforming units produced by the process. A Markov chain technique has been utilized in order to derive the run length distribution of the proposed CUSUM schemes and perform all the necessary calculations. The results of an extensive numerical study are presented in order to assist practitioners in the selection of the most suitable scheme while comparisons with other competitive charts are provided as well.
