Abstract:
|
Starting January 2014, National Marine Fishery Services is planning to deploy new Cellular Electronic Logbook (cELB) devices to document shrimp effort in the Gulf of Mexico. In this research, we study the performance of the new devices compared to the ELB devices used since 2007 using three independent methods, visual(via maps), observations by day comparison, and statistical methods. Our study shows that the new cELB devices perform as accurately as the previously deployed units. We further develop a general linear mixed model for effort estimation and compare to a general linear model previously used.
