Abstract:
|
Graduates of statistics programs typically rely on informal mentoring, mainly by their advisors. In this roundtable, we will discuss the importance of a more formal mentoring plan for statisticians who follow research careers, particularly those who find themselves isolated or based in non-(bio)statistics groups in biomedical environments. The roundtable is mainly targeted toward junior and mid-level research statisticians. Discussion themes will include the main objectives of a mentoring plan, the choice of appropriate mentors, setting and evaluating career goals, and logistics regarding communication with mentors.
