Abstract:

In this talk I will discuss the simultaneous modeling of longitudinal markers, recurrent competing risks, and terminal events. Such situations arise in many areas such as in medical studies, public health arena, engineering situations, and even in the social sciences. Of particular interest in such settings is to obtain knowledge about the occurrence of a terminal event in light of the information arising from the longitudinal marker and the competing recurrent events. Improved information about the occurrence of the terminal event from the marker process and the competing recurrent event processes could lead to beneficial interventions that could potentially prolong the occurrence of the terminal event. Statistical inference issues will be addressed in the general model that is proposed.
