Abstract:
|
Several organizations are attempting to use electronic health records to answer a variety of questions about the usefulness and safety of interventions, patient health, clinical operations, and provider efficiency and quality. Attempting to collect and use standardized patient reported information that is important to patients and providers plus can aid in data and evidence driven care has many hurdles. We will discuss several issues involving health policy, ethics, informatics, statistics, education, and clinical care that have helped and hindered implementation of a set of studies and electronic systems that support providers using PROs in clinical care and subsequent reuse the data to support research. Topics will include payment structures, consent, missing data, potential analyses and data structures.
