Abstract:
|
An introduction to the Kepler mission will be given. Some of the following statistical challenges will be briefly discussed: Error analysis of the transit parameters; Gaussian Process and wavelet modeling of transits around noisy stars (rapid pulsations of host star); detecting transits in noisy data (both instrumental and background noise); and frequency of multiple planetary systems. Also some exciting discoveries by Kepler will be pointed out.
