Abstract:
|
Many statistical analyses require sums and products over large data vectors but more complex operations only on relatively small summaries. The large-data aggregation operations are suited to relational databases, and especially to analysis-oriented column-store databases such as MonetDB, and the more-complex operations and user interface are suited to a statistical environment such as R. I will describe the dynamic generation of SQL code to perform large-data analyses from R, and a virtual dataframe interface to simplify implementation. This is joint work with Hannes Muehleisen of Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica, Amsterdam.
