Abstract:
|
A visual presentation of what attaches people to their communities. Data come from the Knight Foundation website, www.soulofthecommunity.org, and include survey results from 2008, 2009 and 2010. The communities chosen by the Knight Foundation are not random, but they do represent a selection of 26 metro areas across the United States. The data analysis includes geographic representations as well as both static and interactive plots. Both similar and different communities will be presented, in terms of features of the data, and further work is suggested in order to extend the study of community attachment. All code will be made available in conjunction with this project so that the work could be reproduced.
