Abstract:
|
jvmr is software in two parts: 1. an R package that embeds Java and Scala interpreters in R scripts, and 2. a JAR file that embeds the R interpreter in Java and Scala programs. The software gives R users access to existing Scala code and libraries without the need to understand the technical details of the more advanced rJava package. Going the other direction, developers of Scala and Java programs can easily access statistical routines and graphics available within R. This paper describes jvmr's usage, provides comprehensive documentation, gives several examples, and discusses jvmr's implementation. The jvmr software will soon be available on CRAN for easy installation and use and it runs on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.
