Abstract:

This roundtable discussion will address how to solve high-impact problems in the 21st century. Global competition and ubiquitous electronic communication systems have made it imperative that significant changes be made in how we work if we are to remain competitive. These needs apply to statisticians and other quality professionals, as well as to all workers around the world. An effective way to deal with this need is to increase the impact of our work. Increasing impact can come from solving large, complex problems that are of importance to the organization you serve. When such problems involve processes and the collection and analysis of data, there is a good chance that the concepts, methods, and tools of statistical engineering will be helpful in identifying and solving such problems.
