Abstract:

This roundtable discussion will focus on outlier testing methodologies and center on the advantages and limitations of various outlier methodologies. Some of the subtopics will include: (1) practical issues in picking an outlier methodology, (2) which outlier testing methodology is likely to be better for a given set of circumstances, (3) whether historical information should be used, (4) what outlier tests can detect and what they cannot detect, (5) how outlier test results should be interpreted and when action should be taken, (6) whether some outlier tests are inherently better than others, (7) and what outlier tests assume about your data.
