Abstract:
|
Teleconnection in climate sciences is referred as the strong correlation of climate fluctuations at large distances. The existence of teleconnection patterns places challenge for traditional spatial models which often assume stationarity.
In our talk, we provide a non-parametric procedure to visualize the pairwise correlation of climate fluctuations and teleconnection patterns for temperature and precipitation on country level. We also propose a covariance function which has the capacity of modeling negative covariance according to the result from the visualization. Our result can be used for agriculture production and international trading.
