Abstract:
|
Current high school and community college mathematics instructors are frequently asked to teach introductory or Advanced Placement statistics courses. However, due to lack of training, many teachers report feeling unprepared to do so. To assist these teachers to effectively teach introductory statistics and the AP Statistics curriculum, I developed a GAISE-inspired statistics course for this audience. In this poster, I will present different course materials, including course goals and outcomes, content coverage, pedagogy, and activities. Through these materials, content knowledge and statistical pedagogy are combined to give teachers the background to become effective teachers of statistics.
