Abstract:
|
Since its establishment in 2008, the PITCHf/x motion tracking system has been responsible for novel approaches to analyzing the game of baseball. However, popular methods for obtaining PITCHf/x data from its source are complicated and unattractive. pitchRx is an R package focused on both expediting collection and simplifying visualization of PITCHf/x data. In addition, pitchRx provides shortcuts for scraping numerous XML files into data frame(s). Baseball analysts have historically used static plots to visually analyze strikezone densities. pitchRx provides convenient and robust methods for such strikezone analyses as well as animation of flight paths
