Abstract:
|
The flipped, or inverted, classroom is a pedagogical model in which the typical homework and lecture components of a course are reversed. The flipped classroom has recently received a significant amount of press as it places different demands on faculty resources and requires students to alter their expectations. Unfortunately, lack of resources and large class sizes can make it difficult to flip a course. This talk will present simple techniques that appear to have similar benefits of a flipped classroom without taking the extreme step of completely flipping the course. This will include a discussion on how to prepare students for the flipped classroom, efficient use of class time, and assessment.
