Abstract:
|
Technology allows us now to teach outside of the traditional classroom. There are challenges to translate an effective in-classroom lecture to an online delivery format. I have successfully taught undergraduate Statistics for over fifteen years to about 10,000 students. Over the past two years, I have developed and taught an online introduction statistics course for undergraduate business students. This paper describes the process of taking an in-class lecture teaching format to online delivery for learning beyond the walls of the traditional classroom. Second, it describes the rewards and opportunities of teaching an online course, including instruction methods for asynchronous learning. Third, I compare assessments of student grades and instructor evaluations between the introduction statistics course of traditional lecture classes to the online classes.
