Abstract:
|
Distinguishing the individual impact of players in team sports is a difficult task, one made all the more important by the need to draft and sign new players or extend contracts to current players. Even when there is an abundance of data available, it is not always clear what information can be extracted and how to evaluate uncertainty appropriately. I will discuss methods to disentangle player contributions to team efforts, which can then be used to evaludate the financial worth and contribution of a player to their team, for both previous and future performance.
