Abstract:
|
DNA methylation is becoming more widely studied in cancer research and drug development. For example, determining which genes are methylated and finding drugs that will alter that state may lead to new therapeutic options for patients. I will present an overview of epigenetics, DNA methylation and the Illumina arrays designed to capture this information genome-wide. In particular, I will discuss: the importance of study design; quanity control; normalization; association testing approaches; and need for validation studies.
