Abstract:

The reform movement in statistics teaching has led to important changes in what we teach, how we teach, and how we assess over the past 25 years in the algebra-based introductory applied statistics course. One issue largely left out of the discussion has been the order in which topics are taught. This book departs from the traditional sequence of topics in important ways. The ordering of topics repeats the sequence of data collection - descriptive summaries - probabilistic reasoning - statistical inference seven times throughout the text in various data contexts. The poster will highlight various features of the supporting text, including structure, e-availability, supplemental resources, and available data sets.
