Abstract:
|
"One man, one vote" under-girds the the US Constitution. However, it is a fact that ballots are invalidated in elections. While invalidation is necessary in many cases, if it happens to one demographic more than another, the election is not fair to that demographic. Furthermore, if the invalidation happens to one candidate at a higher rate than to another, the election is not fair to that candidate. This research uses the US Presidential election in Colorado to explore the spatial and demographic characteristics of the invalidation rate. I conclude that the election in Colorado did violate the "free and fair" hypothesis. I propose a common cause to this unfairness.
