Abstract:
|
Collaborating with medical researchers often provides great teaching opportunities. However, this will require one to set aside assumptions to allow the teaching to take place. In this talk, I will discuss a few aspects-learnt through collaborating with junior and senior clinician researchers- which can be essential for successful collaborations and therefore must not be assumed. For example, it is important not to assume that all clinician researchers know: how to frame researchable questions; reporting guidelines for different designs; how authorship is determined; the required time and cost of performing statistical analysis; how to manage meetings; how to manage time; how to manage projects; etc. Therefore, one needs to be prepared to share lessons on these issues to enhance the collaborations.
