Abstract:
|
The Census Bureau produces estimates of state and federal taxes based on responses from the Current Population Survey's Annual Social and Economic supplement. The Census Bureau also plans to produce the same estimates based on responses from the American Community Survey. One key step in this process is constructing tax units from the members of sampled households. This paper compares the results of tax unit construction across the two surveys. These estimates are also compared to tax unit counts using IRS aggregate data.
