Abstract:
|
Ratio edits occur when the ratio of two highly-correlated items are compared to upper and lower limits and then either imputed or flagged for further review if they fall outside these limits. The effectiveness of the ratio edit is dependent on the limits calculated. We propose a more rigorous approach to setting the limits by calculating statistical tolerance intervals as an alternative to the rules-of-thumb typically implemented. Both nonparametric and parametric calculations will be discussed.
