Abstract:
|
Pragmatic trials play a major role in assessing the effectiveness of interventions in the real world. They address a fundmental question of whether offering an intervention, therapy or drug versus some control--which could be usual care or standard of care--does more good than harm in some defined population or setting. Unfortunately, there are many criticims and controversies about pragmatic trials. This presentation will address these confusions and use the CHAP trial (BMJ 2011;342:d442) to illustrate how to deal with the issues.
