Abstract:
|
Participants' attrition and deferential mortality within longitudinal studies pose serious problems for obtaining inferences about a population of aging individuals. Attrition and mortality are often highly related to aging-related outcomes. Inferences regarding aging-related changes are better defined as conditional on the probability of surviving and/or remaining in the study. We use two-stage multiple imputation and demonstrate some approaches for dealing with the incomplete data, attrition and mortality on cognitive outcomes in longitudinal studies of aging.
