In this presentation relevant technologies and modeling methods for smarter energy management will be reviewed and highlighted. Specifically, we present IBM's Measurement and Management Technologies, which provides a general framework for smarter energy management solutions. The discussion includes the underlying sensing and communication technologies, respective physical and statistical models as well as predictive control technologies. In the second half of the presentation specific applications of these technologies use are discussed including data centers, super computers, buildings, telecommunication facilities and solar energy plants.
