Abstract:

Cross-cultural efforts to build analytic capacity and improve the quality of applications in western Africa by improving the quality of statistics and operations research education will be reviewed. Our experience and the outcomes of a teaching effectiveness colloquium held in conjunction with the Third Buea International Conference on the Mathematical Sciences (April 30 - May 3, 2013) will be featured. Plans to make this an annual event to be held in a different African nation each year will also be discussed.
