Abstract:
|
Short segments of identity by descent (IBD) between individuals with no known relationship can be detected using genome-wide genetic data and recently developed statistical methodology. The detected IBD segments are useful for IBD mapping, heritability estimation, haplotype phase inference, genotype imputation, and inference of demographic history. I will describe the principles behind methods for IBD segment detection and give an overview of several applications.
