Abstract:
|
Australia is introducing a national bowel cancer screening program. The program is based on mailing iFOBT screening kits to people when they reach particular ages. The program is being introduced in stages starting with ages 50, 55 and 65, adding 60 and 70 later and then moving to biennial screening some years later. We consider the cost-benefits of this roll-out scheme via a micro-simulation model based on the CRC-SPIN model. We also consider some aspects of model validation.
