Abstract:
|
Excellent statistical graphics first and foremost show the data. Likewise, the tools for making such graphics should emphasize essential data-visual mappings and hide the implementation details of looping, painting, and layout. Kevin will introduce C2, a Clojure library for building rich, data-driven graphics through the composition of smaller visual pieces. C2, like Bostock's Data Driven Documents (D3), maps abstract data into user-specified SVG or HTML representations. C2 also includes a fast linear constraint solver for dynamic layout of multiple graphics. This session will include walkthroughs of several interactive visualizations on the web, as well as a iPad monitoring/dashboard application.
