Abstract:
|
In a recurring process of revisiting the National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) for Ozone, the US EPA conducts risk assessment analyses which focus on FEV1 decrements predicted to occur under various environmental exposure scenarios. Those recurring analyses have been facilitated by our efforts to expand the range of ambient conditions for which a statistical exposure-response model accurately predicts the FEV1 response for individuals and populations. In this presentation we describe the models and methods we have developed to provide accurate prediction of acute ozone exposure-response. Our research efforts have relied on existing data from chamber studies of volunteers. Our presentation is focused on nonlinear mixed-effects models for the FEV1 decrement.
