Abstract:

A rank-based method for testing two-sample location problems is proposed. The method is applied to microarray data for identifying differentially expressed genes across two samples in replicated microarray experiments obtained under two experimental conditions. Researchers test for differentially expressed genes when searching for disease-related genes. The proposed test is strictly nonparametric as the distribution does not assume that of the parent population. This method is compared to other rank-based methods in detecting differentially expressed genes under different conditions.
