Abstract:

Binormal ROC curves play an important role in evaluating the performance of a diagnostic test and the association of the covariates with the diagnostic test. Many semi-parametric approaches have been developed for estimating the binormal ROC curves. We propose a pseudo maximum likelihood estimator for the binormal ROC curve and provide asymptotic distribution theory for it. The proposed estimator has a simple closed-form solution unlike other semi-parametric estimators. Simulation results indicate that the efficiency of the new estimator is comparable to or better than that of existing estimators.
