Abstract:

In many fields, data has skewed distribution. That is true especially when the interested variable takes only positive values with a small mean value but a large variance value. To overcome these problems one possible solution is to work with the log-transformed data.In this study we focus on comparing two population means for this kind of data when the populations have unequal variances. We consider 3 possible solutions: Modified Likelihood ratio test, bootstrap based test and generalized p value approach. A simulation study is conducted using small to moderate sample sizes to assess the type I error rates and powers.
