Abstract:
|
Seven geometrical tasks of the eyeballing game give us opportunity to put a number to our skill. Based on data recorded from 23 thousand game plays, we evaluate how these tasks relate to statistical graphics. Studies have been conducted to determine effectiveness of some graphical elements, see Cleveland and McGill (1984, 1985) and lately by Kosara and Ziemkiewicz(2010). We use the Eyeballing game as another source of data to assess individuals' performance on particular perceptual tasks, with the idea of answering two main questions: (1) how do the tasks ranks in terms of difficulty? (2) what effect does multiple game-playing has on a player's perceptual accuracy?
