Abstract:

We discuss the application of optimal model-based experimental design for finding the most informative sampling times in population pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) studies which are described by nonlinear mixed effects models. We outline key components of the methodology, describe the PkStaMp software which constructs D-optimal designs for compartmental PK and combined PK/PD models, and provide examples of how the software was used for several studies
