Abstract:

Generalized inference theory, proposed by Tsui and Weerahandi (JASA, 1989) and Weerahandi (JASA, 1993), has proved to be very fruitful in providing accessible, admissible and preferable solutions to small sample problems in many practical settings. In this talk, I will present some recent developments on applying generalized inference theory to several applied statistical problems such as testing equality of quantiles for normal or log-normal distributions, and estimation of various of diagnostic accuracy indices in diagnostic studies.
