Abstract:

Variable selection is one of the most important tasks in modern day's statistical science. High dimensional inference plays a major role in statistical learning & Data Mining. In this talk I'll present the basic idea behind variable selection using different penalized loss functions. This talk will try to connect the gaps between some variants of penalized regression techniques & will discuss also about their optimality properties.
