Abstract:
|
Golf allows two or more people of unequal ability to compete on a predefined level, as established by the handicap system. Golfers with established handicaps can get together on any course and compete. This paper models the distribution of differential scores used to establish a person's handicap and simulates the distribution of the results when two players of unequal ability play. The results show a slightly skewed set of non-normal distributions, with the better player having an advantage, once the handicap differential is greater than five strokes.
