Abstract:
|
In fall 2009 we "took the plunge" by discontinuing the use of a traditional introductory statistics textbook, and using only our own materials, which centered on a randomization-approach to inference. After three full years of teaching using this approach, we've learned a lot from our in-class experiences and assessment data. As a result our materials have changed, though our core focus on randomization techniques to introduce inference remains the same. In this presentation I will share some of the process we have gone through in developing the materials, the current state of the materials, some promising assessment data and some open questions requiring further research and consideration.
